International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity, and this year’s theme is #PressForProgress.
At VFD Group, we are committed to ensuring gender equality and inclusiveness in all areas. While women make up 45% of our Board of Directors and 44% of our Staff, we also have women occupying several key positions across the Group. These women work tirelessly to achieve the Group’s vision of becoming the foremost financial services providers in Africa.
On this #InternationalWomensDay, we are honoring women and their massive contributions to our ecosystem by profiling some of the amazing women in our Group.
- Tessy Ezeh – Managing Director, Everdon Bureau de Change
Tessy is the Managing Director of Everdon Bureau de Change. She holds a B.Sc. in Management Information System from Covenant University, Ogun State, an MBA in Finance from London School of Business and Finance, and a PGD in Strategic Management from Stratford Academy, United Kingdom. She enjoys ‘concocting dishes’ in her spare time, reading and eating bananas & groundnuts.
- Adaobi Ekweanya – Deputy Managing Director, Anchoria Asset Management
Adaobi is the Deputy Managing Director of Anchoria Asset Management Limited. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and holds a B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Adaobi enjoys playing Xbox games, watching movies, dancing to old school music and karaoke.
- Omolara Adenrele – Head, Sales, VFD Group
Omolara is the Head of the Sales Unit at VFD Group. She holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Ibadan and an MBA from the University of Nottingham. As Team Lead of the Sales Force, Omolara oversees the sales strategy of all VFD Group’s products and services. She is a sports enthusiast and plays badminton and squash. She also enjoys baking and regularly treats her colleagues to baked goodies.
- Monica Benson-Onaji – Head, Human Resources, VFD Group
Monica is the Head of the Human Resources Unit at VFD Group. She is responsible for putting together the diverse and intelligent teams we boast of across the Group’s subsidiaries. She holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Jos, Nigeria, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM). She loves fashion and traveling, and hates cooking. Monica also loves German car brands especially BMW, Mercedes and Audi, and will read any article about cars.
- Gbeminiyi Shoda – Company Secretary, VFD Group
Gbeminiyi is the Company Secretary at VFD Group. She holds a Bachelor of Law from Lagos State University, and an LL. B (Hons.) from Nigerian Law School, Abuja. Gbemi joined VFD Group in 2015 and oversees the Legal Unit of the Group and its subsidiaries. Gbemi enjoys networking, reading literature, and challenging herself with new projects.
- Amanda Omogiafo – Group Treasurer, VFD Group
Amanda is the Group Treasurer at VFD Group. She holds a B.Sc in Finance from the University of Lagos. Amanda has been at VFD Group for two years and has in that time excelled in different functions across the Group and its subsidiaries. Amanda enjoys traveling, shopping and playing netball.
- Seun Ogunmodede – Head, Operations, VFD Microfinance Bank
Seun is the Head of Operations at VFD Microfinance Bank. She holds a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos. She has a working knowledge of data analysis and operation metrics and oversees all operations in the microfinance bank. Seun enjoys cooking, making friends, working out and listening to music.
- Oluwatosin Adebukunola – Strategy and Business Performance, VFD Group
Tosin is the Team Lead of the Strategy Unit at VFD Group. She oversees projects that come up within the Group, prepares and implements the Group’s budget, and assists the Executives to articulate their communications. She holds a B.Eng. in Information and Communication Technology from Covenant University, Nigeria, and a master’s degree in Finance from University of Stirling, Scotland. She enjoys reading, traveling and working out, and is a proud naturalista.
- Phidelia Imiegha – Marketing and Corporate Communications, VFD Group
Phidelia is a member of the Branding and Communications Unit of VFD Group. She is charged with implementing 360 degree communication strategies for the Group, and its executives. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from Benson Idahosa University, Benin City. She is a creative writer who was mentored by Chimamanda Adichie at the Farafina Trust Creative Writing Workshop, and is published by various magazines and blogs. Phidelia enjoys listening to music, playing board games, and traveling.
- Oluwaseun Oluwabusola – Strategy and Research, VFD Group
Seun is a member of the Strategy Unit at VFD Group. She works on new and existing projects for the company, ensuring that the company achieves its strategy. She holds a Master’s Degree with distinction in Information Management from the University of Strathclyde, U.K., and a First Class B.Eng in Information and Communication Engineering from Covenant University, Nigeria. She enjoys watching movies, cooking and window shopping, and is working on her public speaking skills.
We may not be able to profile them all, but we celebrate all the wonderful women of VFD Group today, and always. And to every woman out there, we say Happy International Women’s Day.
